Why do you want to be an MSYP?
I want to be an MSYP because I want the voices of young people to not only be heard but listened to. I have the confidence to be an advocate for these young people who want their voice heard. Mental health issues in young people, issues in the school environment and the poverty cycle are all issues I can relate to. These issues have been prominent in my life and that’s why I would be able to understand and help make changes to these issues. I am passionate about helping make a change.
What are the issues that matter most to you?
Specifically -
1. Mental Health Issues in young people.
2.Issues in school environments
3. The Poverty Cycle
How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?
I would consult with young people in the area by reaching out through social media, visiting youth forums and local youth centres and other facilities such as different schools. I would ensure their voices are heard by having them able to ask questions and raise any concerns they have in the community and take this into account when campaigning. I value the opinions of young people so I would guarantee to help get their concerns across and to help resolve any issues they may be facing. I am also confident in speaking to both peers and parents/carers of those who may be unable to voice their opinions.
Why should someone vote for you?
I think that people should vote for me because I will help make changes in the community and be a strong advocate for young people. I am willing to be dedicated to my SYP duties whether that’s visiting youth forums or attending meetings with other MSYP’s. I have attended multiple MSYP meetings with other candidates and have contributed my ideas on how I can help solve issues in the community. I also volunteer at a community youth theatre group and this will give me another opportunity to hear opinions of young people and how to help them. I have no issue speaking in public settings and I am a confident outgoing person. I care deeply about the issues I have chosen for my campaign and I hope that if you do too then you will consider voting for me. I also care about equality and diversity and that nobody should be left out or unheard and that is a role that I will take responsibility for so that every young person has a voice.
