East Lothian
Why do you want to be an MSYP?
I would like to be a MSPY to give back to the community that made me who I am today, and to support the younger generations to help them achieve their dreams . I would also like to be a MSYP to gain expirience in politics as I am interested in that as a profession.
How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?
I will push for each school to include a link to a google form on the weekly newsletter, this form will allow you to report any problems you have in your local area directly to me. This will allow for all people to have an equal say without having to leave their comfort zone. For those not in school or in a school without a newsletter I will create a SYP Instagram page with a link in the biography leading to the same google form allowing your voice to be heard equally.
Why should someone vote for you?
A vote for me would mean a vote for change. I will listen to all issues brought to me regardless of age. whether it’s regarding the state of a local skate park or the quality of the bus services in your area, I will do everything in my power to support the young people of East Lothian. If I am voted in one of my main goals would be to make it so East Lothian Young Scot cards work on trams in Edinburgh, making tram transportation free not just for the youth in Edinburgh but also for us in East Lothian. I would also campaign for a county wide website regulated by the council, where local jobs offering places (mostly part time) could advertise for free directly to school kids, this would make it easier for young people to get jobs and work experience, which would enhance university prospects. My final goal would be to push East Lothian council to equip each high school with one-on-one devices. This means every high school has enough devices (laptops, iPads etc) that students can use them without sharing.
