Candidate Profile

Why do you want to be an MSYP?

I want to be and MSYP because I want there to be more free safe spaces for youth. I’ve noticed a definite uprise in teen addiction around me and I think it’s partly because there are very few spaces or activities made for teenagers that are cheap enough to involve ourselves in. I have also noticed an uprise in teens suffering with mental health issues and I want there to be more safe spaces for them to be able to express themselves and seek support. I think doing these things could help to de-criminalise youth today.

How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?

I think that I would consult with young people in my area through social media mainly, things like votes and polls. I could also ask different people that I know struggle with these issues where they feel that they have been mistreated and/or neglected by mental health and addiction services.

Why should someone vote for you?

I think that someone should vote me for MSYP because I have witnessed first hand what addiction and mental health issues can do to families and communities. I care deeply about these issues and making sure that children suffering with these problems are not just heard but also supported.
