East Kilbride
Why do you want to be an MSYP?
I want to become an MSYP as I think our youth should have a say in matters that affect their lives and the communities. I intend to use my ability to interact, express opinions, and speak in front of people to communicate with the youth of East Kilbride. I would like to hear all perspectives and opinions while making sure that everyone feels heard, valued, and included. I am passionate about improving the environment, inclusivity, and youth safety. I have strengthened my collaboration, interaction, and leadership skills through volunteering and community service. As an MSYP, I intend to listen to young people, speak for their opinions, and work with others to bring about positive changes in East Kilbride.
What are the issues that matter most to you?
I believe youth safety is important because every young person should feel safe and comfortable in their community.I would like to bring awareness to safety issues in town centers, schools, parks, public transportation, and other locations where young adults hang around one another. I would advocate for safer walking paths, improved lighting, and more chances for youth to show their concerns. As an MSYP, I would collaborate with youth and local organisations to find out what triggers them to feel unsafe and push for useful change. I want young people to be able to take part in their local area and move around East Kilbride without unnecessary fear or worry.
How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?
I'll consult with young people by providing them with the chance to openly express their opinions, thoughts, and concerns. Through speeches, surveys, and group discussions, I would address young people in my school, community, and youth organisations. I would pay close attention and make sure that everyone, including people who may be shy or hesitant, had an opportunity to participate. For me to connect with young adults who may not attend meetings, I would also utilise social media platforms and online surveys. I would determine the issues that are most important to them and efficiently communicate their opinions to MSYPs, organisations, and decision-makers. Most of all, I would offer comments to ensure that youths feel that their opinions have been heard and taken into account.
Why should someone vote for you?
You should vote for me as I am passionate about protecting youth and making sure that their opinions are heard. I would like to be able to speak for young people in East Kilbride because I am confident speaking in front of groups of people, communicating with others, and sharing my ideas. I listen well and think that every person, regardless of their background, should feel respected and included. I am highly enthusiastic about three issues: the environment, inclusivity, and youth safety. I want to learn about the issues that young people face and work with others to create practical solutions that have the opportunity to change matters. Through volunteering, I have developed my teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. These experiences have shown me the value of giving support to others, hearing various points of view, and making a positive impact on our community. If elected, I would be approachable, committed, and open to engaging with young people. So as to make sure that a range of perspectives are heard, I would actively seek out their thoughts via discussions, polls, and conversations. I would invest a lot of effort to promote the opinions of young people, bring awareness to significant concerns, and contribute to bringing about positive changes in East Kilbride. Most importantly, I would make sure adolescents know that their views are important.
