Candidate Profile

Why do you want to be an MSYP?

I want to be an MSYP because I have always enjoyed being a part of a youth voice group as growing up I was in pupil council then my local areas youth voice in my senior years at school. After I was apart of Girlguidng Scotland’s youth voice this past few years, I realised I still really enjoy representing people’s views and I would love to continue to represent Girlguiding Scotland and all the young people involved in Girlguiding. I would also like to be an MSYP as during one of my placements I was fortunate enough to be a mentor for the local councils MSYPs and got to see how amazing SYP is and all the amazing things SYP has achieved.

How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?

I will consult young people in Girlguiding by emailing county commissioners and seeing if I can join units in person or virtually to speak to them or if surveys can be sent out to leaders to ask young people to fill in or even if views, opinions and ideas can be taken from young people and given back to me so I can use to guide me in what I would do.

I will also use my wider connection of Girlguidng by reaching out to people I know in different counties to help me reach different units to get there views and opinions.
.

Why should someone vote for you?

Someone should vote for me to be an MSYP because I have been apart Girlguiding for over 15 years and have doing girlguidng all over Scotland with different group and events, this has allowed me to build many connections with people all over Scotland.

I also believe someone should vote for me because I will be able to use my skills and attributes I have learned e.g. communication skills and teamwork skills, to effectively work with other MSYPs and young people in Girlguiding Scotland to speak up important views that young people in Girlguidng Scotland believe in.

Another reason, why I believe someone should vote for me is because I have been volunteering for nearly 10 years it has allowed me to be able to work with different people and build many connections over those years.

The next reason why I believe that someone should vote for me is because I am fortunate to be apart of Scottish Independent Guiding units which allows me to reach young people all over Scotland.
