Why do you want to be an MSYP?
I want to become a MSYP to be a fierce, unyielding voice for equality and inclusivity across our constituency. My core drive for this lies in dismantling systemic barriers and fighting for both racial and queer equality, ensuring every young person feels safe, valued, and celebrated for who they are. I believe that education is the ultimate catalyst for change. I am deeply committed to enriching our curriculum so that all cultures are fully explored in schools, fostering empathy and mutual respect from an early age. I think that true equality also means equity. Whether a young person comes from a deprived or affluent background, their potential should never be limited by their circumstances. I am ready to listen, lead, and deliver a fairer future for everyone in our constituency, no matter what their background consists of.
How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?
First, I would launch an anonymous, monthly surveys to schools, to gather broad data on key issues like mental health, equality in schools, and discrimination in schools and local facilities. Secondly, in order to reach those less likely to engage, I would lobby for interactive focus groups in neutral community spaces like youth clubs, and schools. Crucially, I would aim to establish a Youth Advisory panel in my school composed of diverse individuals from different backgrounds. This panel will aid in co-designing initiatives, ensuring that minority and marginalised voices are directly involved in decision-making rather than being an afterthought. I am passionate about making sure all students from every kind of background feel heard.
Why should someone vote for you?
Vote for me to be your next MSYP. I have the proven dedication, work ethic, and passion to truly represent you. For two years, I have volunteered with Beavers and Cubs, helping local children build confidence and learn new skills. This experience has taught me how to listen to young people, advocate for their needs, and turn their imagination into reality. Beyond volunteering, I am deeply rooted in our community through my work in two local coffee shops. Every month, I talk to hundreds of residents, giving me a strong, direct source on the issues that affect our area and families. Outside of work, I really enjoy pushing myself to learn and grow. Whether it's staying on top of my coursework to maintain top grades or putting in the practice to reach Grade 6 in the clarinet, I love seeing the results of consistent effort. These milestones are proof of how much can be achieved with a bit of focus, time management, and perseverance when things get tough. As your MSYP, I will bring this exact energy, approachability, and determination to the SYP. I will listen to your voices and ensure they are heard, representing you, and your community.
