Why do you want to be an MSYP?
I want to be an MSYP because I want to make a difference for young people in my area and make sure their opinions are heard. Young people are often affected by decisions that they don't get a say in, and I think this should change. I want to give young people a voice and make sure their ideas and concerns are listened to. I would like to speak to young people in my area and find out what matters to them. I would then share their views and make sure they are heard by people who can make a difference. I also want to encourage more young people to get involved and feel confident sharing their opinions. Being an MSYP would help me learn more about the issues young people face and give me a chance to help make things better. I would work hard to represent young people and listen to everyone.
How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?
I would speak to young people and my classmates and encourage them to share their opinions. I believe it is very important to speak to people normally and not make it feel like a formal political conversation. I would try to convince young people that their voice matters and that they can make a difference, even if they do not normally get involved in politics. I would ask them about the issues that are important to them and listen to what they have to say. I would also try to speak to different groups of young people so that I am not only hearing from the same people. I would use conversations in school and around my area to find out what young people think. I would then take their views forward and make sure they are represented.
Why should someone vote for you?
People should vote for me because I genuinely want to represent young people and make sure their voices are heard. I would not just speak for myself or my friends. I would make the effort to speak to people in and around my school and listen to what they actually care about. I want to make sure that different opinions are heard, even if I do not personally agree with them. I would take the time to listen to young people and understand the problems they face. I would then share their views and try to make a difference. I also want to encourage more young people to get involved and understand that their voice matters. I would take being an MSYP seriously and work hard to represent the young people in my area. I would always try to be honest, listen to others and do my best to make sure young people are represented.
