Candidate Profile

Why do you want to be an MSYP?

We need change and I want to work with others to make that change happen. I think a really big issue in our society is the bullying culture among young people. It is not young people's fault, it is created by a combination of algorithms that encourage us to focus on the negatives in other people. Another contributor is the lack of youth spaces in the community, which means that people get isolated and friend groups become very rigid. Something I would work towards would be stricter anti bullying policies in schools. I would also make it part of the school curriculum to learn inclusive ways of working together, as I think this is a vital skill for the adult workplace. I would make it a top priority to set up youth clubs so people can make friends outside of school, having a place they can exist without feeling judged

How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?

I would go into schools in the community and give assemblies on the issues and encourage anyone to come up and discuss a problem after the assembly.

Why should someone vote for you?

Someone should vote for me because I have real lived experience on the issues I'm talking about. I'm very good at communicating with everyone including adults and young people who are struggling in their lives and can relate to them. I'm not in this election to make a career out of it, I actually want to make a difference. I fully understand how bad the situation is and I'm ready to listen to the voices of the young people. I want to be someone young people can look up to and feel like they can talk to.
