Candidate Profile

Why do you want to be an MSYP?

I want to become a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament because I believe every young person deserves a voice and should be heard, no matter who they are or how they identify. I believe politicians need to listen to young people and their experiences, as only then can they understand what changes are needed to make Scotland a better place. Through my work with a national charity supporting young people I have been involved in meeting with politicians to shape policies which have a direct result on the lives of children and families. I’d like to use this experience and my connections to represent the views and improve the lives of young people across East Lothian.

How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?

I would consult with young people through schools, youth clubs, community groups, social media, surveys and local events to make sure their voices and views are heard. I would also make an effort to reach young people who have left school by using my own networks and connections.

Why should someone vote for you?

my main focuses as MSYP would be transport how to make this better for youths across Scotland and places for young people to go like clubs or centres that have been forgotten by our high streets. I also want to tackle youth mental health issues as well and making a safe place for young people to express their mental health safely without judgement or criticism.

I will also work closely with my fellow MSYPs and East Lothian council and local MSP to help ensure these goals are met and that the next generation of Scotland are heard and seen.
