Edinburgh North Western
Why do you want to be an MSYP?
I want to be an MSYP because I want to represent ethnic minorities, and show young people of colour like me, that they can also get involved in politics and achieve their dreams. I would also want to be an MSYP to allow for young people in general to get a much better say in what they want changed or added to their local authority, and I want to be able to hear everyone's opinions on legislations, or ideas that the SYP and Scottish Parliament have, while also bringing up ideas that people in my constituency have as well.
How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?
I will send out surveys, and promote the fact that the young people in my area know that they are able to let their voice be heard through me. I will hold meetings and make young people aware of this opportunity, to let me help them with making our area a better place to live. I have also started planning to do some independent research in education to bring upon to parliament, and I'll definitely be talking to many young people, from primary and secondary, for this research.
Why should someone vote for you?
Young people should vote for me since I love interacting with new people, and hearing about different points of view of what they think about their area. I will do my best as an MSYP to bring about ideas that the young people want to see happen, and I will be dedicated into doing all I can to do this. I want young people like me to get involved in opportunities that should already be given to them in my area, but currently we haven't got many places to do that. I want to change that and allow for young people to get these chances of being involved in things that they are interested in. It's always been my dream to be involved in politics and be in such a place where I can voice mine and others ideas, and to make this area a nicer place for us young people to live in.
We are the future. Let's make it ours.
