Girlguiding Scotland
Why do you want to be an MSYP?
I want to be an MSYP because young women deserve to see themselves represented in politics and know that their voices can create real change. Too many young women, particularly those who feel overlooked or excluded, don't always feel that the systems around them reflect their experiences. Becoming an MSYP would give me the opportunity to help change this. Making education more accessible, creating neurodiverse friendly public spaces and workplaces, and ensuring young women have the confidence and opportunities to participate fully in society are issues that matter deeply to me. As an MSYP, I would take your experiences, ideas and concerns directly to decision makers, push for meaningful action and make sure you know what happens next. Most importantly, I want other young women to see that politics is a place where we belong. We deserve a seat at the table, and our voices matter.
How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?
Every young woman in Girlguiding should have a genuine opportunity to be heard, not just those already involved in politics. To make engagement accessible, I would offer different ways to participate, including regular online surveys, meetings and in person sessions where young women can share their experiences directly.
Working with programmes such as Speak Out would help reach those who might not otherwise engage. I would also create a Youth Voice network with representatives from different counties to understand the issues affecting young women across communities.
Most importantly, consultation must lead to action. A regular newsletter would share what you said, what I did, the response from decision-makers and what happens next, providing transparency and allowing you to hold me accountable.
Listening would continue throughout my time as an MSYP, ensuring my priorities change as the needs and experiences of the young women I represent change
Why should someone vote for you?
Young women deserve a representative who will not only listen, but speak up when something needs to change. This is something I already do. Through Perth Autism Support Youth Voice, Speak Out and YPI, I have experience advocating for young people, challenging attitudes and making sure our experiences are taken seriously. I am particularly passionate about challenging perceptions of what neurodivergent young people can achieve and breaking down the barriers that can prevent them from participating, leading and having their voices heard.
Whether speaking publicly, taking part in debates or representing different perspectives as a Model UN delegate, I have learned how to listen, communicate confidently and stand up for what matters. If elected, I would use this experience to represent you. Your concerns would become the issues I raise, and your experiences would inform the conversations I have with decision-makers. I would push for answers and make sure you know what happens next.
I am standing to challenge barriers, create opportunities and change perceptions, so that more young women, including neurodivergent young women, have the confidence and opportunity to participate fully.
Our voices matter, and we belong at the table.
