Candidate Profile

Why do you want to be an MSYP?

I want to be a MSYP because I’m motivated to help young people get more involved in decision making, feeling listened to, and notice future changes. Over the past few months I’ve realised how important young people’s voices are and the impact we make when being listened too, I’m interested in hearing young people’s thoughts towards the subjects their passionate about. I would like to explore how young people would like to make changes to the surrounding area and create a better environment for themselves and others, making sure they know I’m listening to them. I’m excited about being able to talk about Education, Employment and transportation, as I understand the troubles young people may fave when it comes to these topics. I will be a hard-working, determined and motivated MSYP that is willing to listen to all young people about following issues. I want young people to see me as someone they can trust with their opinions and points, making sure their concerns are my priority’s into making change happen.

How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?

I will consult a young person by asking them for their views, making sure to listen carefully to what concerns they may have and the changes they’d like to see. I would like to let them know they’re valued when they share and make them feel comfortable with how they want to use their voice for difference.

I will gather in the feedback I collected to encourage participation creating opportunities for young people to get involved more. I am committed to respecting all young people’s points valuing the different perspectives they bring. I will make sure they all have opportunities to share their thoughts, regardless background or experience, I would like to make sure they know I’m taking them seriously. By doing this I hope to achieve a positive environment for young people to feel confident and listened too.

I aim to make sure all young people’s perspectives are going to a safe place so that they feel comfortable knowing that they can express themselves without the fear of being judged or attacked. I also want to encourage young people to be more open about any experiences and concerns, making sure they’re all treated with respect and the equal opportunity for being heard.

Why should someone vote for you?

You should vote for me because I am committed to listening to all young people’s voices and that they are heard. I would like to be able to go beyond my own view by seeing others and helping them express their perspectives, I’d also like to create a safe environment where everyone is listened to and encouraged to sharing opinions. Young people’s concerns are my number one priority that I will take seriously as a MSYP, encouraging young people to get involved and work together to create positive change.

I’m willing to put time, effort and determination into this role and responsibility. I won’t just listen to young people views; I will do my best to make sure their voices and opinions are communicated and reflected on. I’m committed to learning new things from young people’s perspectives that I represent, working together find ways forward and maintaining to speak up for their interests. I want to be someone they can approach with respect and feel safe knowing their voice matters!
