Applications to stand in the 2026 Scottish Youth Parliament elections are now closed – voting will take place from 2nd – 15th November 2026
Dundee City East
Why do you want to be an MSYP?
I would like to become a MSYP because it is an excellent opportunity to encourage change that would be in the best interest of young Scots. Fixing the problems young Dundonians face is something I'd take pride in doing, and this role would allow me to directly ask the youth of Dundee what issues they face and address them accordingly. Being an MSYP means that I will discuss and encourage the implementation of policies and reforms that benefit the youth of Scotland and the Scottish environment. To see Dundee become better city to grow up and live in is a dream which I'd love to achieve.
How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?
I will utilise platforms such as Youtube to ensure young people across Dundee east and the rest of Scotland have means to find my email to draw my attention to the problems they would like to see solved. There will be QR codes which link to my email on my campaign posters.
I also would encourage my peers at my high school to have chats with me about the political issues they believe should be solved. Whenever I can, I'll draw attention to these problems, and if necessary, I'll speak about the issue at SYP meetings. I would aim for all young people to have an opportunity to express their opinions and know where to do so.
Why should someone vote for you?
Young people should vote for me because I will utilise the position of a MSYP to draw attention to and discuss solutions to problems which I, and Dundee's young people believe effect Scotland. If I were to become a MSYP I will prioritise talking with the Scottish youth parliament about youth unemployment, online safety laws and environment related policies, along with any other issues which young people believe need solving.
Youth unemployment is becoming an ever more relevant issue among youth, full-time job markets are becoming increasingly competitive and summer jobs are becoming harder to find. For that reason, I will bring up the issue with the SYP and discuss possible solutions with them.
Child safety laws which restrict what the youth see online are easily bypass-able, therefore being ineffective. I will do my best to oppose such laws.
Global warming is a problem which many young people are passionate about solving. If I was to become a MSYP I would aim for the public and government to have a more favourable view to nuclear power, to discuss with MSYP about the construction of generative AI data centres and spread awareness about global warming.
