Candidate Profile

Why do you want to be an MSYP?

I would be interested in becoming a MYSP to be able represent the voices of the variety of young people within my local community. Within this I am also passionate about protecting the independence of young people (e.g. preventing a blanket ban on phone usage in schools). I also believe becoming an MSYP would give valuable insight and experience in what is like is like to work as an MSP and how decisions are made which affect young people.

How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?

I would aim to create a polls related to relevant issues within the constituency via a variety of social media sites, where they would be most accessible to a youth audience, as well as creating a wider reach. I would like to host a platform which would allow young people to voice their opinions independently if they would wish to do so.

Why should someone vote for you?

I am a confident speaker, and believe that I maintain thorough persuasive skills which would enable me to fight on behalf of various young people within our consistency. I also plan to do my utmost to fight against a blanket ban on phones within East Lothian schools, (as well as fight against any social media bans which may have the potential to take place). I would also like to be able to help make education more streamlined across schools within the area, allowing for wider more streamlined range of subject choices.
