Strathkelvin and Bearsden
Why do you want to be an MSYP?
I want to be an MSYP because I want young people in my area to have a voice and feel like their opinions actually matter. I think young people have a lot to say about things that affect our everyday lives including education, transport, mental health opportunities and our communities. I want to listen to different young people to understand the issues that matter to them and bring their views forward rather than only speaking about my own opinions. I also want to learn more about how decisions are made in Scotland and develop my confidence communication and leadership skills.
How will you consult with the young people in your area or organisation to ensure that they are represented well and their voices are heard?
I would make sure I speak to a wide range of young people not just my friends or people who have the same opinions as me. I would use social media or online surveys and polls to make it easy for young people to share their views.
I would also speak directly to young people through my school youth groups and I would ask about the issues they care about and give them opportunities to suggest ideas or raise concerns.
Why should someone vote for you?
I would ask people to vote for me because I would take the responsibility seriously and make sure I listen before speaking for young people I don’t want to be an MSYP just for the title I want to actually get involved, speak to young people and bring their concerns forward.
I would be approachable and give people different ways to contact me and share their views. I would make an effort to listen to people who may not normally get involved in politics or youth organisations because their experiences matter too.
